Online stores are great, easy to order, you don't have to leave the couch (or the work desk) and when your parcel arrives it feels like you've got a present.
BUT the downside is that it can often be hard to figure out what size to you should be buying and this can be especially hard when your picking out your preferred grips of choice! Not to mention the fact that unfortunately, once they are open they are yours.
At FxD we stock The Natural Grip and JawGrip, both with their own sizing system (and some US metrics to get us extra confused!), so here are some tips and tricks to figuring out the size that's best for you -
These come in three sizes, small, medium and large for both their grips and gloves. Sizing is measured from the bottom of your middle finger to the crease of your wrist.
|Small||Up to 9cm|
If you are on the border between two sizes, JawGrip suggest you go up a size.
The issue is that getting a ruler out whilst sitting at your desk "analysing a spreadsheet" can look rather suspicious, so here are some handy size comparisons -
The length of an A4 piece of paper is 29.7cm, so half that paper is 14.85cm, fold that paper into three and you get almost bang on 10cm - does that look like the length of your palm? Then jackpot - Small is the size you need.
Not a small or still hard to tell? Alternatively checkout this online measurement tool here which basically puts a real size ruler on the screen, you just have to adjust the size of your monitor to the correct size.
2. The Natural Grip
Slightly more complicated - measuring your size based on your ring finger. However, the team at The Natural Grip provide a handy rule of thumb table which we have added to to provide a bigger range of indicators:
|Ring finger circumference||4.8-5.2cm||5.3-5.7cm||5.8-6.2cm||6.3-6.8cm|
|Shoe Size Gauge (Mens)||4.5-6||6.5-8||8.5-10||10.5-12|
|Shoe Size Gauge (Womens)||6.5-8||8.5-10||10.5-12||12.5-14|
|Ring Size||I 1/2 - M||N - Q||Q - T 1/2||U 1/2 - Y|

Like JawGrip, they suggest rounding up a size if you are in between sizes.
Well - we hope this helps you with choosing your size and if all else fails and you end up with the wrong size - we bet there will be someone at your local gym keen for a trade.
